Who says public services don’t innovate?

Bibliotheek De Krook in Gent
The Krook Library in Ghent

The Krook is an innovative library concept in the City of Ghent, Belgium: its design, its functions, its situation… All of it is anything but the image of a scruffy, dusty library where people shuffle quietly in the aisles between the book shelves.

But there’s more than meets the eye. De Krook’s management interacts regularly with its audience and has used us to architect and source a bespoke recommender system which was built by a data science team they appointed.

Lingua Franca did the analysis, requirements gathering and vendor evaluation as well as the solution architecture and the project management. We are proud to have contributed to innovation in public services.

With a Cloud first approach on Amazon Web Services, The Krook became a trailblazer in the Belgian library universe…
